About L'entre-deux

Our mission

L'entre-deux is a psychoanalytic psychotherapy clinic founded on the teachings of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan. Our mission is to provide a therapeutic space where each person can explore their unconscious, understand their symptoms, and reconnect with their capacity to desire.

We believe that psychic suffering has meaning, and that this meaning can be uncovered through speech. In a confidential, non-judgmental setting, we accompany our clients on their personal journey toward a deeper understanding of themselves.

The name "L'entre-deux"

The concept of "l'entre-deux" (the in-between) holds a central place in psychoanalytic theory. It designates the transitional space, the third place where the therapeutic relationship unfolds.

It is the space between conscious and unconscious, between desire and its fulfillment, between the subject and the Other. It is in this in-between that true speech emerges — speech that reveals what was until then repressed or unrecognized.

The name also evokes the position of the psychoanalyst, who is neither an expert who knows everything nor a friend who gives advice, but a third party who listens and punctuates the subject's speech so that their own desire may come forward.

Our team

Our clinic brings together two experienced psychologists, trained in Lacanian psychoanalysis and members of the Ordre des Psychologues du Québec (OPQ).

Dr. Martin Belzile and Dr. Sepehr Hashemian share a passion for psychoanalysis and a commitment to clinical excellence. They meet regularly to discuss their readings of the major psychoanalytic authors (Freud, Lacan, Winnicott, Roussillon) and to enrich their clinical practice.

Our clinic is located in the heart of Montreal, at 2222 Boulevard René-Lévesque West, in a quiet and professional setting. Our offices are designed to provide a welcoming space, conducive to speech.

We also offer online consultations via a secure platform for clients who prefer this format or who live outside Montreal.
